The Clean Beauty Box – Channel the "GODDESS" in you with LILFOX

First of all, I want to give a huge kudos to Claire and her entire team for revamping the look and feel of The Clean Beauty Box for 2019! Not only do they have a newly designed "CB" logo, their entire website and storefront has been updated for a bright, clean look and a more streamlined experience. In the near future [ahem... March], they're launching their new packaging that minimizes waste too. Safe, eco-friendly, and ethical beauty – I'm liking the trajectory of The Clean Beauty Box, aren't you too?

Before we get deep into the unboxing, I'd like to pause to admire the box slip cover and inner pamphlet design by, visual artist, Natalia Jheté. These beautiful illustrations were originally designed for LILFOX and they depict – in such a simple yet whimsical way – the tropical flora of Florida.

And now... the UNBOXING

This month's collaboration features a company that I've been curious to try – LILFOX from Miami! I feel a little bit of Florida pride welling up inside [haha]. Here's a little snippet about LILFOX from the informational pamphlet inside The Clean Beauty Box  – "the magic behind the brand."

The Clean Beauty Box has a new "CB" logo!

And this month's box features two clean and all-natural products by LILFOX the Aphrodite Mist and the Cleopatra Mask.

The theme for this month's box is "Goddess."

Ms. Alexis Rose, founder of LILFOX, aromatherapist, and perfumer, blended this toner mist with rose quartz [a mineral in pink rock crystal form] to "enhance love" and named it after "Aphrodite," a Greek goddess of love and beauty. This floral mist smells potent at first spritz – of deep [almost musky] rose – and dissipates very quickly as it absorbs into the skin.

The Aphrodite Mist is formulated with 4 natural ingredients – Certified Organic Rosa Damascena Distillate, Rose Quartz Crystals, Geraniol, Citronellol.

Mists are one of the best ways to bring hydration [H20] back onto the skin and into the pores – making them one of my favorite tools in my skin-care regimen. As a gal with normal to dry skin, I incorporate my misting products as much as I can – before applying moisturizer, between layers of serums, before masking, mixed in with my face oils, and throughout the day to set and refreshen make-up.

Rosewater in particular is wonderful as a toner. It's a natural antiseptic with anti-inflammatory and cooling properties, and feels soothing and refreshing to the skin. I'm excited to have added the Aphrodite Mist from LILFOX to my current rosewater collection to be used in rotation with Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel toner & Evanhealy's Rose Petal HydroSoul.

There are several things about this mask that sets it apart from many of the others that I've tried.

1. The unique mix  – There are so many wonderful ingredients in the Cleopatra Mask but for now I want to highlight two that I rarely see in mask formulations: Pineapple and Papaya Extract! Here's an descriptive excerpt from lilfox.miami:

"Pineapple Extract contains the enzyme bromelain, which aids in breaking down dead skin cells and reveals a brighter complexion. Bromelain has been used to treat inflammation for hundreds of years.

Papaya Extract (Paw Paw) is rich in the healing enzyme papain. These enzymes slow down the formation of fine lines and wrinkles by combating free radicals. Papain also has skin-lightening properties and can reduce the visibility of blemishes and acne scars. Together with alpha hydroxy acids, papain acts as a gentle exfoliator that dissolves inactive protein and dead skin cells."

2. The texture and color of the mask when wet – The dry formula, once mixed in with a small amount of liquid, turns into a vibrant orange color with the texture of a light mousse. I find this more pleasant than several other masks that I currently use which tend to mix into a thick and gloopy texture. Also, a bright orange face is a fun way to surprise your roommates, or a husband, in my case!

3. It dries gently – Most clay masks dry out and harden fairly quickly on the face, in about 15-20 min. And sometimes, it feels uncomfortable as the mask pulls on the skin and makes it taut as it dries. The Cleopatra Mask, on the other hand, feels pleasant on the face throughout the entire making process with no pulling of the skin involved. This mask would be good for all skin types, but especially suitable for those with mature or sensitive skin.

4. Immediate results  – A masking session with the Cleopatra Mask makes my skin super smooth [no bumps] and visibly brighter. It might be from the physical exfoliation as the mask is being washed off, but I think it can also be attributed to the pineapple and papaya enzymes, which help dissolve dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin.

The HOW TO's – You can simply mix in a little water to the Cleopatra blend to mask with but I've been spicing up my recent masking sessions by brewing up a unique masking concoction to soothe, smooth, nourish, and brighten. I add to a tablespoon of the Cleopatra Mask a small squeeze of raw honey, a couple drops of facial oil, and a couple spritzes of a toner mist.

I'll mix it all together and apply it all over my face with a brush to leave on for up to 40min [or sometimes 50min if I remember to spritz my face with a toner mist during the masking session]. And to wash it off, I like to rub the mask lightly into my skin in a circular motion under warm water to gently exfoliate as the mask washes off.

Cleopatra Mask's Simplified List of Ingredients: White Clay + Rose Clay, Honey Powder + Maltodextrin, Coconut Milk Powder, Moroccan Lava Clay, Baobob Powder, Camu Camu Powder, Rose Petal Powder, Dead Sea Salt, Frankincense Powder, Pineapple Extract, Papaya Extract, Rose Quartz Powder, Sandalwood Oil, Jasmine Absolute, Linalool

The Clean Beauty Box has been quite a hit these days! Their December and January subscription boxes both sold out in less than a week! I hope my post gave you a sense of what to expect in this month's box. Something tells me that the February box won't last long either.

Also... I may or may not have become a Clean Beauty Insider [wink wink]! Check back on March 5th for next month's subscription box reveal and for more exciting updates about my [currently in the works] Clean Beauty Insider-ship!

Wishing you a BEAUTY-Full Day!
